Forecasters claim that the UK could be hit with plummeting temperatures his coming winter - and four months of snow.

Last year had one of the mildest winters on record, but now one weather forecaster believes a White Christmas is on the way as snow hits the UK between November and February, writes Mirror Online.

These sub-zero winter predictions follow the extraordinary hot weather we've had this month, with Britain recording its hottest September day ever at 34.4C.

James Madden at Exacta Weather says we could receive heavy and persistent snow for up to four months.

He added: "Despite the much warmer than average but unsettled summer and the warm start to autumn, people should not be lulled into a false sense of security."
